The William Alanson White Institute was founded in 1943 by psychoanalysts Harry Stack Sullivan, Clara Thompson, Frieda Fromm-Reichmann and Erich Fromm. Our main function has been and remains the training of psychoanalysts. Over a decade ago, we began training psychoanalysts in our Interpersonal Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy training program. In 2016, we expanded this program to include online training for psychoanalysts with translation into Russian. The Institute is endorsed by the American Psychoanalytic Association. More than 100 of our alumni are members of the American Psychoanalytic Association and the International Psychoanalytic Association (IPA).
