Attending to the healing engagement of art and psychoanalysis, the study group provides new possibilities of shared meaning, greater emotional aliveness, vitality and wholeness in the face of anxiety, loss and emotional trauma.
Sexual Abuse
This group consists primarily of graduates and candidates in training at the WAWI with an interest in furthering their clinical and theoretical knowledge concerning work with survivors of sexual abuse.

The William Alanson White Institute is host to one of the most exciting and dynamic LGBTQ study groups in the NYC analytic community. Established in 2006, this group of mental health professionals maintains a multidisciplinary focus and a commitment to expanding our understanding of LGBTQ concerns.
Study Group on Race & Psychoanalysis
On hiatus for ’23-’24
The Study Group on Race and Psychoanalysis (“SGORAP”) focuses on intersections between the study of race—racial dynamics, race relations, and race as difference—and psychoanalytic theory. While classical psychoanalysis has been characterized as a theory of sexuality and sexual difference, interpersonal and relational approaches allow us to explore how psychoanalysis might be useful in analyzing problems of race and interrogating questions of sameness and difference.
